Protective and risk-mitigating indicators

Protective and risk-mitigating indicators are important for identifying positive changes in persons, both at a specific point in time and over a continuum of time.

Since radicalization to extremist violence is a dynamic process, there are changes expected in (de)radicalization and (dis)engagement over time. This domain contains protective and risk-mitigating indicators, as reinterpretation of ideology, rejection of violence, support from community and/or family to do so, change in definition of the enemy, and participating in programmes against violent extremism.
